Kyra of Weave Gold

 Kyra is the owner of Weave Gold, and she makes handmade beaded and metal jewelry in her studio in Boise, Idaho.

I have been a long time fan of Kyra and her work. I was super stoked to be able to ask Kyra a few questions about Weave Gold.

When and why did you start Weave Gold?

I started Weave Gold in 2011 when I had an interest in making my own jewelry. I’ve always been someone who enjoyed crafts and working with my hands so it seemed very natural that I’d pick up beading and metalsmithing. I had no plans to turn this craft into a business until customers and my coworkers at the restaurant I worked at at the time asked me where I got my earrings and if they could buy them off of me… Soon after that, I started an Etsy shop and the sales paid my bills and now here I am over a decade later, selling primarily through my own commerce site, Weavegold.com. I’m grateful everyday that I get to create beautiful things with my hands and call it my job. 

What are the Weave Gold pieces you tend to wear the most?

 I wear jewelry everyday and I love statement pieces so I'm at least always wearing some of my rings on the daily and I’ve been really into these new small huggie hoops that will be available soon. If I’m going for a statement piece, I love the Hibiscus beaded earrings. They have that pop of pink and orange that I’m in love with right now! 

Favorite color combo right now?

 Right now (and always really) I’m into orange. I love color. In clothing, I tend to wear mostly neutrals and bring in pops of color with my jewelry. A favorite color combo right now is orange and pink or rust and lavender. Oh and I love a cornflower blue!

What are you listening to/watching while working?

 I’m currently on season 3 of The Great and I’m obsessed. I’ve been watching it for a couple months while I’m working. But being I’m almost done with season 3 (the last season that I’m aware of) I’ll probably start listing to books on audible again. I’m in a book club so this is a good way to get through them! The next one on our list is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
